The WRL Story

Officially started in 1979, by Bob and Sharon Leavine, WRL’s roots go back even further. Both Bob and Sharon grew up in families with construction history, so even in the beginning, neither were strangers to hard work or the fact that you always treat people the way you want to be treated. During college and early employment, Bob realized that he really enjoyed the construction process and knew that he was good at it. Some folks are born with a God-given talent for leadership and some with an inborn spirit that doesn’t know how to give up; Bob was fortunate to have both. He and Sharon sold their home, moved into a small apartment, and started WRL General Contractors with what little money they had. Bob was good at running the bones of the business and Sharon, with an accounting degree, was tenacious in making sure their income and resources were wisely used. That was more than four decades ago. Though times and faces have changed through the years, the values that this company was built on like integrity, continuous learning & constant improvement, discipline, respect, and attention to detail have stayed the same as Bob and Sharon remain hands on every day.

Bob and Sharon’s daughter, Melynda Hensley, practically grew up on job sites and has been involved in the company since she was a teenager. Today, there is not one part of the business in which she has not had hands on experience. As Vice President, Melynda is just as driven and tenacious as Bob and Sharon when it comes to business.  She loves construction as much as they do and enjoys the skill, innovation and creative problem solving needed for each unique client and their needs. Taught from an early age that you do whatever it takes to make something happen, Melynda’s philosophy is that you go above and beyond the requirements of a job to overcome challenges and satisfy clients.

When asked what the sweetest part of success has been after more than 40 years in business, Bob, Sharon, and Melynda are redundant in their answers. Without a doubt the best part is the clients who have become friends, employees who have become family, and joy found in sharing with others out of the abundance they have received.
